Abstract

Morphometrically, phaneroptically and morphologically, chickens and naked neck cocks (324 females, 60 males) were characterized in the four municipalities of the Ch’ortí region of Chiquimula. The variables evaluated were 18 quantitative for the female and 16 for the male, nine qualitative and eight zoomometric indices. The analysis of the zoomometric variables was carried out through the univariate analysis procedure, with measures of central tendency and dispersion measures, and to analyze the proportionality and harmony between the various body regions through the Pearson correlation. The main results are: weight of 1.84 kg / female and 2.29 kg / male; height 27.84 cm / female and 32.51 cm / male; metatarsus 10.25 cm / female and 11.76 cm / male; both have more height than length, inclined forward; As for its perimeters, the abdominal is the largest and curved characteristic of laying hens and an elongated rump with flat back. Their corporal indices are elongated birds, with reproductive capacity (pelvic index 71.82%) and little formation of muscle for the production of meat (index compactness 6.80% / female and 7.03% / male), elongated head, elliptical thorax and strong and high limbs . The morphological and phaneroptic characteristics describe a white- skinned bird, yellow metatarsus, feathers on the throat, simple ridge with chin and appendages, feather colors are the combination of brown, black, gray and white, the color of the shell varies from the white to light brown and with a body harmonization of up to 61%, which gives a homogeneous homogeneity to the morpho structure of the hen.
