Abstract

In order to evaluate four strains of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschincoff) Sorokin for control ticks of the genus Boophilus spp., Two strains of ticks were selected for evaluation in their adult stage on parasitized calves. A completely randomized design was used, with six treatments and ten repetitions. In this phase, strains PLH and CH 93-3 were the ones that showed the greatest effectiveness, so they were evaluated in adult ticks on calves previously parasitized; In the in vivo test, a completely randomized block design, four treatments (the two selected strains, a chemical compound and a water-based placebo) and eight repetitions were used. The results showed that the two strains evaluated showed a 50% effectiveness with respect to the chemical.
