Abstract

OBJECTIVE: to analyze the level of application of virtual education in Civil, Science and Systems and Industrial Engineering careers at the Centro Universitario de Oriente. METHOD: the type of research was descriptive and the hypothetical-deductive method with a mixed approach was used for the analysis of the results. The population consisted of 250 students and 22 professors. In the case of the students, Didactic instrument of Analysis of the Teaching Strategies of Online University Courses, ADECUR, was used. As for the professors, a structured interview guide was sent in order to deepen into the study phenomenon. The data was tabulated with the software of the Statistical Program for Social Sciences SPSS in its version 26. RESULTS: the general research hypothesis: Hi: Virtual education in the careers of Civil, Sciences and Systems and Industrial engineering of the University Center of Oriente -CUNORI- is applied at a medium level, was accepted, since 50.0% of the students apply virtual education in its dimensions: virtual environment, learning, objectives, contents, activities and sequencing, evaluation and tutorial action, resources and aspects technology at a "medium" level. CONCLUSION: it is concluded that professors regularly apply virtual education, so administrative and academic improvement actions must be taken.

Carlos Enrique Monroy , Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala

He is a graduate of Industrial Engineering and a Master's Degree in University Teaching with an Orientation in Learning Strategies at the University of San Carlos de Guatemala. He is a university professor at the University Center of the East - CUNORI - of the University of San Carlos de Guatemala, Academic Coordinator of the English programs of the United States Embassy at its headquarters COOSAJO, R.L. Esquipulas and Guatemala City. He has an international SIT BP TESOL certification from World Learning sponsored by the United States Department of State.
