Abstract

Each of the stages of the life of a laying hen is of vital importance to obtain an excellent performance in the production of eggs and that the producer thus obtain a profitable business. It is not the exception the stage of lifting in which the greater body development and growth of the pullet is observed, therefore it is of vital importance to evaluate the relationship between the weight (P) and length of the metatarsal (LT), the present study is carried out in one day old Lohman White and Lohman Brown pullets until sixteen weeks., each week the shed was assisted to carry out the weighing
and measurement of metatarsals, with a digital scale and a vernier, to subsequently keep the record of each of the data, the dependent (P) and independent (LT) variables were evaluated by means of statistical procedures, simple linear regression and correlation coefficient, when determining the correlation equation in the Lohman White birds, a result was obtained of 0.95 between both variables and in the Lohman Brown birds, a result of 0.93 was obtained, which indicates that there is a positive correlation, since the LT contributes explicitly to explain the incr P element of the bird. It was possible to calculate that for each centimeter of LT an increase of P is expected, which varies between approximately 60 and 73 grams in Lohman White and Brown chicks, respectively, so the LT is highly correlated with the increase of the P of the laying birds. in the lifting stage.
